Re: Never had hypnogogia

Hi, I'm just reading this thread. I'll give a little input from my own experience on hypnogogia. I began meditating - just for stress reduction/sleep - many years ago. I didn't notice hypo images until about 2 years later. I then began some research to find out what it was. I think I was probably se...

Re: help with hypnogogia

This best advice I can give is don't TRY to see it. Just relax and let it flow. I find it on the border between wakefulness and sleep. Be really relaxed. Try some of the relaxation techniques. The easiest time I have found to see it is by using the WBTB method - you are already relaxed and the mind ...

Re: Is this REM intrusion?

Wow, never thought about the whole thing being a vivid dream! It was SO real - even more than LD. Good insight Peter. Thanks.

Is this REM intrusion?

I was doing some thinking about something that happened to me when I was about 12 and wondering if this was REM intrusion, I'm thinking it was. Here is what happened - I went to bed, woke up a little later and went into the living room where my mom and dad were. I sat down and then noticed the furni...

Re: There's never a good name for these types of threads.

It may be much longer than a week before you have your first lucid dream - it took me several months. Don't give up though - it's worth it! Good luck.

Melatonin stops HI

I tried melatonin for the first time (low dose 3mg three nights in a row) just to see what would happen. (I take no other supplements). I found it to be detrimental to LDing. It totally shut down, I mean totally, my hypno images. It also greatly diminished my dream recall. Won't be doing that again....

Re: Translucent Eyelids... WFT? Read And You Will See.....

No, my real arm is not moving. I really like your idea of a "phantom limb" - that describes it perfectly. Here's another thought - is "seeing" through eyelids a part of hypno images? A part of me thinks yes, and a part thinks no. If it is a hypno image it is very controllable. A ...

Re: Translucent Eyelids... WFT? Read And You Will See.....

Okay - you all have my attention. This happens to me on a fairly regular basis. Here's something fun to try. When you start seeing "through" your eyelids try holding a hand up in front of your face. (Lying on your side works easier for this.) Try to "see" it. When I do this I can...

Re: Hypnagogia

I would say yes. You don't have to have formal meditation classes etc., to be able to meditate. In the beginning I used a guided meditation - you can buy them online. It helped me to learn how to relax. Now I can get to that relaxation state in a very short period of time due to many years of practi...

Re: HI images

Peter - interesting idea. Let me think on it awhile. Here's another little thing that I thought of. I usually see the colors, grids, geometric patterns first before the images and "movies". Does that happen with anyone else? or, do you just start seeing actual images without the grids etc....
