Re: Fear of the dark is a major cause of insomnia

This is less obvious and it is just from my personal experience but it can work the other way around. I have no trouble falling asleep but when I intentionally try to deprive myself of sleep my anxiety levels go through the roof. As a result of the increased anxiety I become terrified of being alone...

Re: Another reason for lucid dreaming but not a good one

I've done some reading and I might need to stay awake longer than I thought. 5 or 6 days is what I should aim for. That means instead of 96 hours I need between 120 and 144 hours of consecutive wakefulness. It seems I probably won't experience psychotic symptoms until around that time. There's no wa...

Re: Another reason for lucid dreaming but not a good one

I just failed I'm such a newbie. This is off topic but I'm on my 23rd consecutive hour awake from 3 am yesterday morning until 2am tonight. Everybody is asleep right now and I'm risking hanging out downstairs to avoid getting bored even though someone could wake up and find me. Anyway I decided to p...

First time having an animal's body

I had a weird dream one night. There was a way in the dream I could be transformed into a spider and in the dream this was such an attractive idea. I seriously wanted to become a spider and I had the opportunity to do so. My family was in the dream at this point and they were absolutely baffled at w...

Re: Another reason for lucid dreaming but not a good one

It's good that you recognize these habits as harmful. However, if you're finding you want to do these harmful things and can't really stop yourself, you may want to consider therapy. If you go to a therapist, they are able to help you channel your desires into more productive uses. This is of cours...

Another reason for lucid dreaming but not a good one

As someone with OCD and a masochistic desire to be miserable I have come up with an obsession that I was acting on until my parents intervened. I intentionally deprived myself of sleep with the faint hope (it shouldn't be a hope) of inducing psychosis. I was actually hoping to develop some kind of d...

Re: Beginner Questions Welcome!

Hey. I slept from 2 to 7 pm (Because I'm ill, don't know if this is important..) and the strangest thing happened! A sudden weight on my chest, I barely couldn't breathe. I tried very hard to have a lucid dream, but it was very hard to focus with this weight... I remember I thought to myself that w...

Re: The weirdest dream about Lucid dreaming!!!

I know the lucid dreams you've experienced have been vivid but I would've thought that even if a dream isn't vivid it would still fit the definition of a lucid dream as long as you are aware that you are dreaming. What do I know though? I've never had a lucid dream before. As for gaming, it hasn't h...

Re: Future events?

I'm not sure I'll be able to answer but the one thing I'd like to ask for is context. You haven't provided much detail. Have any of the dreams already come true? If so could you explain the story? If not could you at least explain what happened in your dreams other than the fact that your friend was...

Am I becoming less aware?

Since I've been trying to lucid dream I noticed something weird about yesterday. I was writing in my dream journal about how I was ecstatic to realize I did some simple math in a non-lucid dream which may have meant certain parts of my brain were starting to become active. How can I do math without ...
