I have discussed this with others before and sleep depravation seems to have only "one known effect" in that it reduces REM sleep. Individual effects may include some other aspects which are actually effects of other parts of their lives effected in turn by lack of sleep such as poor work performance resulting in a more stressful life effecting the type of dreams experienced.
Is Lucid Dreaming the brains preparation for the next step of human evolution when we can escape the corporeal bond of our bodies?

I sleep 4-5 hours normally, though that's not sleep deprivation - I just sleep as long as I'm sleepy. I've also sleep just 2 hours a day for two years and was completely rested while doing it; but I had to sleep twice a day; once at sunset and once at dawn. The transitional periods are the most restful and restorative.

Now for what happens when I'm pushing myself and am sleep deprived:

1. Can fall uncontrollably into sleep; both sitting up and standing up. I standing up ones normally have lucid dreams that I can end at will, sometimes they can be spooky though.

2. Brain can become complete mush with lots of stupid mistakes due to not being able to concentrate well.

3. More subject to illnesses when sleep deprived.

4. Can crash into an 8-10 hour sleep.
