Gender

Postby deepakkumaar97 » 19 Mar 2013 13:44

I has been about a month since I joined this site. Till now I am familiar with many of the regular users.
And it happened to me that whom I assumed to be a male turns out to be a female and vice versa, it gave a weird feeling.
It is not easy to guess the gender by username due to different countries and crazy usernames. :?
So, lets make ourself clear.
What is your gender?

Roxas: Did you have fun chatting with the ghosts?
Sora: You shouldn't call them "ghosts". Sure something seemed a little off but I'm sure they're still my friends

i dont think there is any need to make that clear, are you aware that in some countries they are allowing parent to not put gender on birth certs as to give a child an unbiased start in life
Who are you I asked, the reply "dont be silly, we are your daughers" many years before they were born

People have a lot of biases based on many things such as gender, age, nationality, religion, race, you name it. The less of these things people know, the easier it is to focus on what you are saying from a more neutral, objective standpoint without all the excess baggage we carry around with us.

For this reason I prefer not to reveal my gender.
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world? Morpheus

I would treat a comment differently if it came from a male, female, old, young etc. I have a bias and most of us will so it good sometimes to just not know

I treat males and females equally but I do treat children different due to a need to protect them. I also have been known to call a child "sweety" but would never call an online adult that

So yeah.. biased certainly exists.
The only thing to fear is the fear itself
