You should try to WILD, or most other techniques after about 6hrs of sleep+ because at these times your REM periods are much longer, but that doesn't stop you practicing first thing in the night!
Was it worth it?
Depends on your normal schedule, I tend to practice it on days where it doesnt matter if I lose too much sleep from getting up early.
