I don't have a job and therefore I can't buy any supplements that could help me achieve lucid dreaming, or at the very least enhance my regular dreams, and of course I don't do drugs or drink. However, I keep a dream journal by my bed and can usually remember two to three dreams per night (but I admit that the notion that people have any more than five dreams when they go to sleep is confusing for me--you know, one of those things that I'm just going to have to experience to really get), I practice reality checks, and I set my intentions beforehand. I've known about lucid dreaming since I was in the seventh grade, and in a few weeks' time I'll be entering my junior year--and I only have fourteen lucid dreams that I am aware of.
Now I won't lie and say that I've been completely faithful to all things lucid in those four years and so I understand that I can't say that I've shown an amazing amount of dedication. However, during the times that I am interested in lucidity, they usually last for weeks and even months. The impatience is probably a huge problem, maybe even the biggest enemy that I have on this subject, but I'm not sure how to get past it. From past experiences I can conclude that I'll be much more faithful to LD'ing if I can just have and remember one, and so I'm afraid that if I focus on nothing but dream recall (because, let's face it--if it's true that I can have up to ten or fifteen-plus dreams every time I go to sleep then of course I've had more than fourteen lucid dreams to date . . .) then I'll lose interest and the cycle will just keep going.
As I said above, I can't buy any type of supplements that might help, at least not in the nearest future, and all mnemonics are for me is a sure way to ensure insomnia for the night. If I take a nap them I know I'm going to have a lucid dream, but . . . I hate napping.
Does anyone around here have any suggestions that I haven't tried? Maybe even a magical cure for the whole "napping" thing?
