Don't be scared of sleep paralysis!

Postby HunterClash » 24 Aug 2017 12:09

So on 8/24/17 I had fallen asleep, and I had a dream where I was drinking tea and eating jam, talking with a professor about lucid dreaming, not even realizing it though. That's actually the hillarious part. And I took a piece of cake, put some jam onto it, and started to say a sentence. I remember it: "Yeah, so like, astral projections don't exist. All I know is that lucid dreaming...", when I was about to say "...is an adventure", suddenly, my voice got muffled, I could barely talk, and then I just could not talk at all! There is a ringing noise in my ears overpowering everything, making everything else inaudible. Then I wake up. The ringing noise is still with me. And I know the feeling. It is sleep paralysis. It doesn't seem like there is something heavy on you though. I can describe it as my every muscle is relaxed, but I can't contract them. I am just not in control of my muscles. I realize that this might become scary, so I stay calm. I close my eyes. And then... This might not sound scary to you, but even louder than the ringing noise, I heard "BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG.", it felt so REAL! I don't know if that was someone breaking into my house, or footsteps, but i'll take number 2, since I actually felt my bed vibrate. Remember that I closed my eyes. I imagine something positive. A fluffy white kitten! =) Instantly I felt my body easing up, and BAM. I could move!

1. I'm pretty sure this is my first sleep paralysis experience, and I don't want to see hallucinations, so advice is to close your eyes, and
2. Imagine positive things! Flowers, kittens, etc. will do!

Tell me why, when I woke up at 5, I knew that I could make it go away, and tried to stay up to 7, like, I was scared? Don't be though. It's gonna be alright!
I fell asleep, during DAYLIGHT! It was a dream about an aquapark. I had water in my eyes, and I slid down a slide into a pool, and woke up. SP is back at it again. For literally 2 seconds. I felt it, and then it went away.

So I hope this gave you advice on how to not be scared during sleep paralysis! Do NOT GET DISCOURAGED FROM LUCID DREAMING BECAUSE OF SP!!!!!!!

Amen.

For me, sleep paralysis is just a sign post on the way to lucidity.

Nothing scary about REM Atonia.
