lucid dreaming on nyquil.? does it affect it any different.?

Postby ThreeStarE » 08 Dec 2011 06:26

Alright, so my curiosity drives me to ask yet another question. If I take nyquil to knock me out, will it affect a dream/lucid dream at all.? Pleaseee answer.!

Hi,

as far as I know, NyQuil would contain Doxylamine which is an antihistamine sedative. I think it may alter your dreams as it may also have anticholinergic effects. These properties are generally related to "stronger images", for example hypnagogic hallucinations. It could also foster nightmares (as most psychopharmacological substances can do). Substances of the anticholinergic type can also be used to induce LD (at least I think so). First, all these substances make "images". Secondly, if you take a sedative early in the evening, say at 8 pm, you will have sufficiently slept at 4 am and be relatively awake. But the brain is sill programmed on sleeping, so it may be easier to get into a dissociated state of mind. As far as I know, except Doxylamine most substances of this anticholinergic and sedative type are under prescription as antidepressants or neuroleptics. Of course, these things have side effects and I don't recommend to do it... I personally prefer to have "natural" LD...
