To have a WILD easily you have to balance consciousness and daydreaming?

yes. waking consciousness has to be balanced with dreaming for any LD. To have a WILD one needs to put those things into place, relax enough the mind for a dream to start but still maintain awareness enough to not forget what you are doing and who you actually really are.

WILD can also depend on some skill in bringing oneself into a dream thou one can also do WILDs in a more passive kind of way where they can just happen with some techniques being done without having to "pull" oneself into the dream.
The only thing to fear is the fear itself
