What is this? (near lucidity?)

I meditated about twenty minutes ago, and I share my experience here in hopes that anybody could answer this.

I sat meditating, and after, what I now recall was fifteen minutes, odd things started happening.
When a mosquito started buzzing in my ear (I know it was a mosquito because after I meditated, that same mosquito flew in my ear five minutes later) I firstly thought this might be a buzzing from the lucidity side effect. Though it was false, I became slightly frightened at the possibility of lucidity because I next saw patterns in the dark of my eyes and a light shining in the bottom left corner of my left eye. My heart started beating frantically; at that point I freaked out. I opened my eyes (I was to stop in one minute anyway) and a basket and a laptop by my face seemed like it had turned into a malformed face (I couldn't see well, I was in the dark.)

Can anyone explain each of these symptoms? Thanks!

Hi Ebony Wolf,

ASSUMING LIFE IS REAL:

Your subconscious sent warning signals to wake you up, because the mosquito posed a threat.

You were in an ASC (altered state of consciousness) but woke up to defend yourself from the bug.

The fast heart beat was from a jolt of adrenalin.

The malformed face was hallucinated because you were on a defensive high-alert.

This response is hard-wired from our evolution in the wild.

OR, ASSUMING LIFE IS A DREAM:

the mosquito represents an aspect of your psyche that doesn't want to meditate.

BTW, some lucid dreams create cool auditory hallucinations, like electronic bells.

A.S.

Hm. Thanks!

Sounds kind of odd though, defending from a bug. Sounds sensible, though.

Hi :) the shinning white light and the patterns (hypnogia) are normal when trying to lucid dream, I usually get hypnogia when I'm just trying to goo to sleep in general. I also encountered both the white lights and hypnogia when I was trying to WILD!

So, would this mean I was entering lucidity during meditation?

Well, I think you were close but not exactly entering, but it's definitely what you are supposed to experience in WILD before creating a dream scene etc.

Good. I've been trying different techniques to induce lucidity with the WILD technique (no lucid dreams yet!) and knowing this will probably help.
