Did a WILD INSIDE a DREAM!!??

Postby crystal lily » 06 May 2017 00:48

I am so confused please help and hopefully somebody has experienced this before. Let's start from the night before. I ate a good chunk of cheddar cheese before going to bed to see what effect it had on my dreams. I also set my alarm for 6 hours after I lied down (it takes me a long time to fall asleep). When my alarm goes off it woke me up from a nightmare which I was thankful for. I then stayed awake for about 30 minutes reading about lucid dreaming and then told myself next time I'm dreaming I will know I am dreaming over and over again. Then tried to fall asleep again, it took me a while again, it was already light out and I figured I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep so I just laid there, here's when it gets weird.

Next thing I remember in the morning I wake up from a dream in which I was telling myself I'm dreaming I'm dreaming and I'm rubbing my hands together and doing all that stuff. But I had one big and frustrating problem, I couldn't get the sheet that I went to sleep with off my face. I pulled it off, I willed it off, I screamed at the dream for it to come off like Rebecca says to demand things from the dream and they will happen, but I never got the sheet off my face.

The other weird thing, I entered into this Lucid Dream (my first since trying to induce them with the MILD technique) from sleep. So I guess it was a false awakening but I didn't realize it was a dream when I was dreaming of inducing it. I am lying down where I sleep every night and I was visualizing a cake. It was more the feeling that I had rather than what I was visualizing that pulled me into my weird sheet-over-my-head lucid state. I was very careful I thought I was actually awake and falling asleep so I didn't want to move to do a reality check I was concentrating on this feeling like I was being pulled into my visualization of the cake and really wanting to see the cake, I was using my taste like the same thing when I crave something when I'm awake so really see the cake until I became calm enough and I was pulled into a lucid dream. That's when I started saying I'm dreaming I'm dreaming and rubbing my hands together etc.

The techniques worked, the rubbing my hands worked, I could see the sheet over my face just as it was in real life, the texture and the folds and light hitting it from outside of it. I could also see my left arm over my head even when I was rubbing my hands together so I wonder if I was having trouble detaching myself from my sleeping body? I could also move around, I closed my eyes and willed that the sheet would be off when I opened them but that didn't work. I fell off where I was lying down and landed on my feet no problem and then proceeded to try and get the sheet off but nothing worked.

Now my question, was I just dreaming of being lucid? Like I had a dream about a lucid dream. At first in the morning I thought I had performed a wild when I happened to catch the moment I was falling asleep since I did a WBTB, but later remembered I was dreaming before I entered this my first and frustrating induced lucid dream. What do you guys think? Sorry if it's confusing hopefully you can tell what I'm talking about.

After reading all that, it sounds confusing. Let me know if you guys can't follow what I'm trying to say. I still wonder if I was awake or asleep when I was doing the visualization, so that's part of why it's so confusing, I'm confused myself. Do you guys have any way to tell when you are awake from when you are not after you wake up in the morning?

It is a bit confusingly written, yes, but I think I understood mostly what you were describing. I didn't respond because it would have basically said "Yup, this stuff we do can get pretty weird! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ " and it seems like you had a question, but I'm not sure what.

Re: awake vs asleep questions, it kind of depends what you mean by that. Lucid dreaming is an attempt to have a bit of both, so sometimes we get different bits than we expect. It is confusing by nature, so if you're trying to get a clean little explanation for this experience, good luck!

The "was I lucid" is easy to answer, though. It doesn't matter if it makes no sense how it started. If you knew it was a dream, the answer is yes.

As for the sheet, I have personally had little success overcoming obstacles with verbal demands or physical force. Just see beyond it, move beyond it, ignore the sheet, and it won't exist. Walk on to your dream as if nothing is wrong, because nothing is wrong. Maybe that seems too easy to believe, but expectation drives everything in dreams. It was your obsessive attention that kept the sheet firmly attached.

Thank you ThePurple, I actually had some success with the sheet thing just this morning. I took that same advice somebody else had given me and visualized a dream scene while remaining calm and waiting for a dream to form. Then I quickly took off the sheet as if I was waking up in the morning to get out of bed and found myself in my ex's studio, then tried to fly. I don't think the sheet will be a problem anymore. :)
