Forgetting to stabilize the dream?

Postby Teraku » 03 Jun 2013 18:28

I've had this several times now. I do a reality check in a dream, notice that I am dreaming, am surprised at how real everything feels, and then I promptly forget to stabilize the dream.

This constantly happens. As soon as I start lucid dreaming, I completely forget to stabilize the dream and the lucidity lasts only a few seconds.

Any tips?

Try making it a habit in RL before you even go to sleep?
Have it all prepared in a script before you're asleep so you can rattle it off without having to think...

Rehearsal
Plan what you will do in the dream step by step and play it in your mind a few times, especially before going to sleep. This way you would automatically do what you want to do as soon as you realise you are dreaming.
This is not a guaranteed method to work the first time you try, it may take some time.
Do a reality check
