Ambient Noise

Does having ambient noise(i.e. fan running) help you relax?
Never underestimate the power of the ponies.

An extremely silent room can be very distracting. It sounds counter-intuitive, but in a silent room EVERY LITTLE NOISE will make you snap awake as you are drifting to sleep and say, "WHAT WAS THAT!" (Your imagination can go wild). But a fan is like white noise and can block out those subtle distracting noises.

I actually don't use one, but now that I think about it, that's a great idea!
We all have the wool pulled over our eyes, but turtleneck sweaters are so damn comfortable.

I have a clock on my nightstand. Most people find it annoying, but I'm used to it - so I guess it helps. Also, If I find the ticking distorted or I no longer hear it, I know I'm drifting away...
And all the characters that you will see or seen
are merely part of the dreamer... And therefore the dream.

I always fall asleep while listening to music on my radio (then it shutts off automaticaly). But if i go to sleep without music, i put ear plugs to not listen to random noises. Those distract me. But ambient noise can be good.
My neighbour has a huge air conditioner and the sound of it working vibrates through my wall. The sound reminds of binaural beats. One day i'll try and concentrate on that sound. Maybe it will make relax or even have an OBE :p
