teddy bear

Postby amy » 15 Sep 2013 00:47

Let's get right down to it- I'm an almost 17 year girl with a really old teddy bear, and this is such a random question for this sight, considering most of you are adults but you guys are my friends so.. I need to fix her up a bit! I plan on sewing the holes. But my main question is how do I get the fur to look fresh? I was going to dunk in in some water with soap then dry it, but then I realized it might mildew.

It depends on the material the fur is made of, if it's really old then it would probably require certain chemicals to properly clean it.

while i can't help you with how to tread your teddy bear, i can tell you that there's nothing to be ashamed of!
it's healthy to not lose track of the important things in life - and one of them is being able to be little :D

I am 34 and still have my childhood 'security blanket' in a box.
I will never wash it!
It's stained and tattered, but that's what gives it character.
If we all lucid dreamed this world would be a better place.

I still have a cardboard jigsaw puzzle of a bunny rabbit from when I was about 8-10 years old (Im over 40 now). I was fretting slightly yesterday as recently my grandchildren played with it and now two pieces are missing and Ive been looking for them. Im worried my cleaner may of thrown them out.
..........

I strongly suggest not to just go and start wetting and soaping that teddy bear, it could turn out to make the fur worst. Maybe ask a dry cleaning place the best way to clean such a thing (or an antique restoration place..some places specialise in dolls and teddies).
The only thing to fear is the fear itself
