Oh and quick p.s. edit. Re regulating breathing. Inbreath of 3 or 4 seconds, followed by outbreath of 3 or 4 seconds. Just focus on nothing else but this equal breath sequence. Do this for a little while before sinking back into a normal breathing pattern. If you start to fall asleep resume the regulated breathing for a few moments then back into natural breath pattern.
SP isnt necessarily constructive to having a LD but just something more so which can occur as a side effect of trying to get into the state.
Falling sensations often happen when one enters a deeper state (not necessarily a LD state.. falling sensations can happen too with deepening meditation states or just before an OBE).
I suggest for you to read the posts on this forum to learn more about how to LD. Some who LD never get SP.
SPs can lead to false awakenenings in which you are dreaming but dont know it.
It's best to just say, or think, "This is interesting and I wonder what will happen next?" See how far it goes or how long it lasts.
I get excited too sometimes, but when I am calm I can 'fall' into it. Otherwise it's always a good lesson to help practice staying calm.
