THE WAY OF THE DREAM - GREAT FILM SERIES

Postby jasmine2 » 17 Feb 2014 06:00

I highly recommend this (free, online) film series to anyone interested in an in depth discussion of the psychological interpretation of metaphorical dream symbolism.

- YouTube - "The Way Of The Dream - Marie-Louise von Franz"

(4 videos - about 10 hours total)
This is an extensive series of interviews with Dr. Marie-Louise von Franz, analyst, who was a close collaborator with Carl Jung, psychiatrist.

Dr. von Franz initially says that she thinks many people can not understand their dreams without professional help. Then she provides a wealth of information and insight regarding frequently recurring symbolic dream themes and characters (or personifications), such as the shadow, animus, anima, and the Center (higher Self). Included are film clips of people on the street talking about their own dreams.

The film is introduced by Marion Woodman, analyst, who also has written a number of very wise books, including "Dancing In The Flames". She draws on her own experience with anorexia and other transformative life experiences. There are a few short YouTube videos featuring Marion Woodman.

Here is an article reviewing this film series.

Also, this article gives a good overview of the influential career of Marie-Louise von Franz.

Best wishes -

Anyone out there know where/how I can view "THE WAY OF THE DREAM" FILM SERIES? -- A 20 video series produced by Frazer Boa (which includes interviews of random people's dreams, and then shows interviews with von Franz on dream interpretation. Entitled: The Way of the Dream; a 4-DVD series (was perhaps a 20-series TV show?)

I have searched youtube and amazon and all over the internet and it appears that whomever published the 4-DVD series must have pulled all the posts of the video series off-line, for claiming some copyright or some such thing. I cannot find any info at all on the 4 DVD series other than it was once published in 1985 and again in 2000, and it is in 5 libraries only.
it is NOT posted anywhere on Youtube.
I do not want to have to read the book (which just transcribes the interviews between Fraser Boa and marie-Louise von Franz on dream interpretation. I want the original videos.!

any help would be appreciated. Thanks dreamers.

I read that video series and watched her book. shew! that was really informative as far the information waxed and waned! The most insightful, complete and meaningful explanation of the human conditional conditions that I have ever watched and listened to. She has given me the magnitude of thoughtfulness, that, I so desperately needed in my times of neededness that I so desperately thought. Her imaginative and penetrating discernment has penetrated my third eye to the delight that is delightfully imaginative. Plus, I used the video tape to lash together a make shift raft. The paper in the book has doubled as an extra avenue of intelligent and sensitive tissue paper applied profoundly and deeply in the gorillas in the mist. The birds fly free and untethered in the light of all lights, agent clarice starling. The angle of the dangle is apportioned to the fallen angle angle in regards to the distance squared times times. The, ah, screw it!
