Dream Lengthening

Postby DreamLord » 16 Nov 2014 01:37

Just wondering, would it be possible to make your rem sleep longer from inside the Dream? Or maybe like somehow speed up your mind so that you have a longer dream in the same amount of time? If so, then you could dream til you got bored.

Some dreamers report that if they feel like their lucid dream is fading, they may try spinning and shaking their hands to help maintain focus in the lucid dream.

Thanks, but not really what i meant. I mean something like extending the REM period itself past its normal limits.

Goodbye forever...
I dare you Summer and Deschain, to find where I am hiding, and try to attack.

Getting more sleep is better than getting less. About ten hours in a single night, for example. Your dreams will be much lighter and will last longer. Also, I tend to alternate sleep with meditation - but that tends to make it difficult for most people to get back to sleep.

DreamLord, I have read that the basic cycles of dreaming, which occur throughout the night, arise from underlying electro-chemical cycles in the brain. Why do you want to force the psyche and brain chemistry to produce longer than normal REM sleep periods?

I value quality, meaning, and surprising symbolic creativity of dream content more than length or quantity of my non-lucid and lucid dreams.

Do you try talking with the most aware and intelligent appearing characters in your dreams? This can lead to progressively more interesting dreams.

Dream re-entry is a good option, too. When you wake up, just go right back into the same dream.
