LD history

Has anyone studied or researched the occurrences of Lucid Dreaming in history? Is LD a recently evolutionary step or have people been lucid dreaming and controlling their dreams for thousands of years now? For example humans have been evolving to consume milk later and later into adulthood over the past 100 years. It seems possible that Controlled Lucid Dreams could be a recent evolutionary stage for Humans where we integrate the conscious and subconscious mind more and more.
Is Lucid Dreaming the brains preparation for the next step of human evolution when we can escape the corporeal bond of our bodies?

Found my answer:

Indian influence spread to the mountainous region of Tibet, where the animistic tradition of Bonpo maintains that lucid dreaming has been used in their meditations for over 12000 years.

Milam (Tibetan Dream yoga) has been practiced at least since the 10th century and it existed earlier than that in India both in Buddhism and Hinduism. Google Nidra Yoga for Hinduism. The Tantric forms of both Hinduism and Buddhism were doing it pretty much as long as they existed. Lucid dreaming, OBE and hypnotism are mainly what real magic was and is recorded as long as history has been.

Bon is not much older than Buddhism in Tibet and Spread from Ladadk into it. It's certainly not even 1,600 years old. Tantraism is not older than the 4th century CE/AD in India and Milam and Nidra yoga are really part of them. Hard to say how old milam is but at least as old as the 8th century CE.
