LD or Daydream?

Postby WildCat23 » 02 Mar 2012 22:32

So last night I tried the WBTB method again. When I went back to sleep, I found I couldn't stop tossing and turning. So I sat and watched my hypnagogia. It slowly turned from patterns to shapes. Eventually it took the shape of a grassy cave. I found I had control over the scene. I don't know if this was a lucid dream or just a highly vivid daydream.

And fell into a fitful sleep
Escape to realms beyond the night
Dream can't you show me the light? "

Did it last a long or a short time?

Pretty short. I think about a minute or two.

It was probably part of your meditation

Darn, I was hoping it was my first lucid dream.

That sounds like the start of a W.I.L.D. Sometimes when a DILD lucid dream of mine ends, I keep my eyes closed and experience what I assume is hypnagogic imagery. It's faint, but I start to see random images. Then one time it turned to an image of a brick wall, no color, just black and white. Then the wall started to move. I realized it wasn't the wall moving, but me. It was faint but I was able to go around corners and through what looked like vague tunnels.

The next step I encountered are a buzzing sound, and/or vibrations, and/or weird sensations of sleep paralysis. It is always different, but apparently this is sleep paralysis phase or something.

Only after that have I ever "awoken on the other side". It can truly feel like that sometimes.

I still have never had a lucid dream starting from being completely awake, and it sounds like you experienced the first stage. I still have problems focusing on hypnagogic imagery when I go to bed, and I have a feeling if I learn to meditate it should help.
If we all lucid dreamed this world would be a better place.

Sounds like you're almost there! And i'd say two minutes is a long length of time to sustain that high level of HI. The moment you lose control over the hallucinations is the moment you need to weave yourself into the scene.
