A long time Lucid Dreamer without even realising it!

Postby Khayyam » 23 Jun 2012 10:33

Hi every one,

This is my first post on this website as I never new there is such a concept as Lucid Dreaming. I am been Lucid Dreaming for a vary long time. It started in my childhood. I can not exactly remember what my first LD was, I happen to have it quite frequently. The frequency of LDing has decreased in my adulthood but it has never stopped. I never knew any techniques to LD what so ever. Once again I never knew there is such a concept till yesterday! (Yes, I am quite embarrassed by my ignorance, but what can I do :D)

I had a LD the other night and the day after when I was at work, suddenly it came to my mind to google it and see if any psychologist have ever done any experiment on it. As I didn't know the term I just tried putting a sentence like: "having control over your dream" in the search engine and by clicking on different links I realised there is a term called Lucid Dreaming and several academic studies about it exist.

I didn't read any of the techniques yesterday and just before I go to bed last night, I told myself that I should have a LD tonight and I had a short one!

I was walking in the country when I realised 3 lions are chasing me! I started to run towards my van which was parked about 200m away and suddenly realised I am dreaming. I have never been familiar with any of the reality checks and other stuff you guys do and just naturally happen to realise I am dreaming, of course a lot of time I don't realise it and just have a normal dream. Last night it was one of the times that I did realise. I just happen to know I am dreaming without seeing any signs what so ever! Everything was normal and authentic. While I was escaping from the lions I told my self oh I am dreaming. When I know I am dreaming, I know I am dreaming! Over the many years of experience, I knew I can do what ever I want in this state. So I stopped and walked towards one of them that was reaching me. I grabbed his throat and strangled the lion and threw his corpse towards the other two which were still trying to chase me. Before the other two reach me I had enough time to get in to my van. In fact I decided that "I shall have enough time to enter my van before they reach me". When I entered it, I realised the side door is open and the window is down. Again I decided that I shall have enough time to close the door and wind the window up before they arrive and I did! I can not remember what happens afterwards thou! I might have lost lucidity ...

Remember, I have been doing all these with out even being familiar with these scenario changing techniques that I just read today! I am feeling so amazed that something that I have been doing for so long, has already been out there and people are practising to do so! Although I must say, the frequency of my LDs has always been out of my hand, I had months and months of having no LDs and vice versa.

Now that with the help of this website and other sources of information on the web, I have more information, I am hoping to increase the frequency of my LDs and enjoy it more and more.

I must say one thing that surprises me is in this forum I didn't see any one speaking about their sexual fantasies in their LDs! I read somewhere that according to some researches Flying and Sex are the top two subjects of most people who Lucid Dream, as it was for myself. Although I must admit I didn't have any idea what other incredible things you can do while LDing. I hope no one is self censoring here.

I am going to go through my subconscious as much as I can. I am planing to picture my subconscious as a mirror of myself as if we are twins and then start talking to him in my next LD. I will see if I am successful or not.

Thanks for reading :)

wow that is amazing that you have been LDing for a long time and not know it. Now that you do know, you will practice and probably have one every night .. Ive met a guy that didnt know what LDing was either until i brought it up and apparently he always has done it as well. So don't feel bad about not knowing the term. I'm sure there are a lot of lucid dreamers out there and don't realize what they are doing lol. Oh and as for the fantasies, there are young people on this forum so that would be kind of inappropriate
What is your definition of reality?

Good post, raising the issue of sex in dreams is fine, describing them might be crossing the line. Look forward to your posts

Thanks for your replies guys,

I didn't mean describing it, but I never read any one in this forum even mention they had sex in one of their LD dream (although I haven't read every single post)

I could say " I became lucid in my dream and rushed to the street and had sex with the first woman I saw"
I don't have to describe the details but acknowledging it might be helpful to others. For example before I come across this concept, when I was having sex in my LDs, I had a kind of bad feeling that it is me and something might be wrong with me. Seeing and reading that other people do it and it is quite natural for your ID (opposite of super ego) to be totally wild and disrespectful of all social rules, helps.

Thanks

at times there are dreams posted like that and really its a hard to say if that is any better or worse than " I rushed into the crowd and killed 40 of them in an instant with a big fireball" The mods have the last say and if its too much it will get chopped. Some boards have a lot of sexual posts and some dont

Yes me too! My brother was talking to me about lucid dreaming and saying he really wanted to be able to do it. I was really confused, I thought everybody could do this!
I used to have to use it a lot as a child as I had frequent nightmares. I used to realise it was not real and wake myself up if it was too scary. As I have got older I don't have so many nightmares so have not practiced but still lucid dream quite often.
Now that I have read up about all this I have started trying to experiment with different ideas. They don't always work however. Some dream people are really hard to control!
Just thinking about things during the day really helps :D

Sex in dreams, as we are not a porno forum, and people don't want to overstep the mark you will find very little on sex here.I tought I qualify to talk a bit about it. I am 80 years by now and must be with on the top in age. I see plenty of young Lucid Dreamers, GREAT we need you to help our planet to survive.
OK sex versus lovemaking while lucid dreaming. my late wife and i had very little sex, but plenty of lovemaking. in our young years sex was thought of as thinking only of your self, but in lovemaking you thought of making sure that your partner was on the same level. now at my age i dream making love to my late wife and it is great. my wife and i are young again about 30 with a body to match, and enjoy us. it is more intense than it was in real life. so most of you should have fun once you can tell your dream: lets make love.
i have had clear dream my whole life and only discovered that i can have lucid dreams 3 month ego, and my clear dreams up to now do my dreams for now. and not doing a bad job. but i hope to become lucid often soon.
sweet dreams. erich
