I Have 5 Lucid Dreams per Night

by Hannah
(USA)

For the past few months I have been experiencing lucid dreams, up to 4-5 a night. I feel nothing but unrest, like I haven't slept in days. At least once a night, on top of the 4-5 lucid dreams, I have been experiencing lucid nightmares.

I never want to lucid dream, Ive had them since I was a child and remember all of them in detail. I can stop myself, change the direction of the dream and wake myself up easily with lucid dreaming. When I have lucid nightmares I can do the same thing, which is fortunate... however terrifying.

I want to stop having these dreams completely. All I want it to feel some kind of rest when I sleep. No more dreams, and no more feeling unrest after 10 hours of sleep. I wake up feeling unsettled because my dreams last so long. My lucid nightmares are terrifying to me so much that I wake up crying and shaking. What can I do?

Rebecca says: I'm so sorry to hear about your predicament. Most people would be jealous of your ability but I have heard from a couple of people like you who lucid dream all the time and it sounds like more of a curse than a blessing.

The first thing I would suggest is you see your doctor, who may be able to prescribe something or refer you to a sleep specialist. There are a whole range of bizarre sleep disorders and prescription drugs to help manage them. They will not think you are crazy.

There is one natural supplement I know of called 5-HTP which I just put up in my supplement store. Now this may sound like a paradox because you want LESS lucid dreams, but it works like alcohol in that it suppresses REM sleep for the first 5-6 hours you take it. This will give you some good quality deep, non-REM (non dreaming) sleep. Of course, you'll then enter REM-rebound for the next 2 or so hours and have a flurry of vivid dreams (in your case, lucid dreams) but I'm just wondering if it might be worth it so you can feel better rested on some level?

Please remember though I'm not a doctor, I'm just thinking out loud here.

Also I strongly recommend you contact The Lucidity Institute and tell them exactly what you told me. They are the leading scientists in this field and if anyone can help you, they can. Drop an email to Patricia Keelin at: contactatluciditydotcom or you can phone and leave a voicemail at: +1-209-254-8597

I hope that helps. If you find a solution, please let me know so I can pass on your same advice to anyone else who contacts me in future with the same problem. Best of luck to you.
