Meditation for LD

Postby ezzolucid » 15 May 2015 22:32

Just a few thoughts, the LD forums are littered with the shout that meditation helps to induce DILD's but theres rarely a mention of the type of meditation that one should practice to be a help rather than a hindrance.

Many traditional meditation say we should focus on breathing and let thoughts flow in and flow out and return to the breath. Whilst this may work wonders for anxiety / relaxation and depression I believe it needs 'tweaking' to be beneficial for Lucid dreaming

Would it not be more productive to meditate on an object, even as mundane as a cup or the buttons on a mobile phone. Would this not create an awareness than could carry over into the dream world where one may then start to closely examine objects and maybe attain lucidity that way

Maybe traditional meditation just watching the breath would not help to attain lucidity.

How do you experienced lucid dreamers meditate to cultivate a deep awareness for lucid dreaming? Maybe I am wrong and and a 'lotus position on a mountain top' is the way to go

It's hilarious that forums are SHOUTING about MEDITATION. TRY IT!! MEDITATE! GO ON!! YOU'LL FEEL CALM AND LUCID DREAM! :? :D Look up Mindfulness Technique. You may want to look at Charlie Morley's Dreams of Awakening - Mindfulness of Dream and sleep. Dream Yoga has been around for hundreds of years. In the West, we are catching up...but in a unique and important way. By all means meditate on whatever you want. It's your life. Mindfulness technique empowers one to make those choices. Edited to say NO MOUTAINS NEED CLIMBING...hmm..no physical ones anyway... ;)
