Alcohol,like melatonin,tends to suppress REM for the earlier parts of the night. It might actually help with the WBTB routine,assuming you have the strength/willpower to wake up at the specified time. If not though,just do your routine on another day and just enjoy the new year celebration. That's what I'm doing right now.
