LD # 12: “Back at the Golf Course, in late November.”
I am dreaming that I am hiking through the woods. I knew in my mind that it was late November. All the trees were bare of leaves. There were small patches of snow here and there on the leaf covered ground. The sky above was gray, but not threatening rain. I started up a small slope, pushing through the branches of small scrub trees. When I reached the top I pushed through some bushes and stepped out onto a paved street. I recognized it immediately; it was he top of Upland Street. I looked to my right and there was the club house of Packachog Golf Course. Suddenly, I “felt” like I might be dreaming and looked at my left hand. It was all blurry; I couldn’t focus on my fingers. I remembered that last time this happened I was dreaming, but didn’t believe I was dreaming. I’m Lucid! I look around. The golf course is over grown. It looks more like a wild field then a well tended golf course. The club house looks run down and abandoned. I revel in the detail of the dream. I look at the surrounding trees and can easily determine the kind: oaks, maples, birch & spruce. I jump into the air and levitate about 20ft off of the ground. I focus on a tiny birch tree off in the distance and begin to fly toward it. I’m moving at (aprox) 10mph. I will myself to accelerate, and my speed increases to (aprox) 50mph. The birch tree is drawing closer when I am distracted by the sound of a siren to my left. I turn my focus onto a yellow emergency vehicle parked in the middle of the overgrown grass. I shift my flight and zoom over to it, and land. There is no one around. I move to the back of the vehicle and my dream starts to fade. I grasp the tail gate of the truck and hold it tight, focusing on the feel of the metal. I lose all visuals, but I am still hanging onto the truck, focusing strongly on the feel of the cool metal desperate to stay in the dream. I hang on for (aprox) 15seconds, but my eyes opened and I woke up.

LC #14 – “RC habit pays off”
I was sleeping in late this morning. I had woken up and fallen back to sleep several times when I dozed off again and found myself walking in an open field of well tended, yet brown cut grass (like it was late November). I stop and look around. There is a large brick school to my left and many trees (mostly oak) to my right. I looked at the trees and they were still covered in green leaves which were moving gently with the breeze. I took a deep breath of fresh air and began to walk. I was happy to be outside and getting some exercise. I brought my left hand up and looked at it for an RC, which I often do when I get the chance to go for a walk. I couldn’t focus on my fingers. I’m actually shocked & ecstatic to realize that I’m dreaming. I jump into the air to fly, but land immediately on the ground as if I were in RL. I remind myself that I’m dreaming and jump into the air again. I am flyin low to the ground, maybe 6-7 ft off of the grass. I begin to rub my hands together because my lucidity seems a bit weak. This helps a bit, but I know that my sleep isn’t very strong and I could easily wake up. But I desperately want to stay in this dream. I yell out, “Increase Lucidity! INCREASE LUCIDIDY!!” which helps a bit more. I wonder if I am talking in my sleep back in RL. I soar over to a chain link fence and land on top of it, balancing with ease. I look around and there are several large well kept colonial style homes, with large beautifully landscaped yards, before me. I decide to fly over to one, go inside and explore. I jump back into the air and fly to the nearest yard and land on top of a picnic table. I look at the side of the large federal blue home. I decide to fly up to the second story window and enter through it. I jump into the air and glide up to the window…….. I am startled awake by a loud snore from my wife. Damn!

Lucid Dream #15 – “First time I’ve seen the Sun.”
As usual I was at the end of a dream when I became lucid. I remember that in my dream my ex-wife had called me from her work because my father was asleep in his van in the parking lot. From there I ended up outside with two stereotypical 1930’s gangster types, pinstripe suits and all. I noticed a strange bush with very small green leaves, bright orange berries (which looked like orange tic-tacs), and 1 inch spiky thorns, and I feel a twinge of fear. Suddenly, I remember seeing this type of bush before in a dream (dream memory?), and I realize that I am dreaming. I am now lucid without doing an RC. I examine the bush closely and wonder if I dream about thorn bushes because I fell through a torn bush as a child and was badly injured. I walk away from the bush and examine my surroundings. I breathe in the fresh air which smells of autumn. I look at the maple trees around me; their leaves are beautiful and vibrant shades of red, orange & yellow. I realize that I am in the front yard of a house where I lived as a teen. I walk around to the side yard and see another of those strange bushes. I stop. I decide to try to intentionally alter reality. I wave my hand by the bush and try to make the berries disappear. With the first wave of my hand aprox 80% of the berries fade away, the remaining turn a pale yellow color. I decide to change tactics. I raise my hands up and will it to begin snowing. The sky grows gray and it begins to flurry. I smile. I look upward and can feel the cold flakes of snow landing on the skin of my face. I notice the sun out of the corner of my eye, but it is coved by clouds. I realize that I have never seen the sun in a lucid dream. I will the clouds to part, and they do. The sun is visible and I glance at it. It is as bright as it is in real life. I avert my eyes and do a RC, just in case I’m not dreaming. (I was afraid I would go blind.) I notice that there is no after-image in my vision; the way there would be in RL after looking at such a bright light source. As I look at my fingers I can’t focus on them without them disappearing. I am confident that I am dreaming. I look back up at the sun. It is no longer as bright as it was. As I continue to stare a face appears on this bright yellow ball. It looks a bit like a smiley from a computer, but its mouth keeps changing from a flat line, to a kissey-face, to a tilted line. I just smile and look away. I decide to leave my old yard and go exploring. I walk to a gate and realize that the yard has changed to the front yard of the house where I spent my childhood (birth to 9 yrs old). I walk through the gate into the street. I turn right and see Charlie Brown and Snoopy standing about 50ft away. (I was watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” last night.) They look 2 dimensional, like cardboard cutouts that move. Charlie sees me and runs toward me yelling, “Daddy!” I just had to laugh. He wraps his 2 dimensional arms around my legs and hugs me. The dream fades away and I wake up.

LD #16 – “Taking my mother flying.”
As usual, this started off as a normal dream and, again, my RC habit paid off. In this dream I was at work, which was (in my dream) right down the street from where my parents live. I was on my lunch break and decided to run up to my parents’ house. I jogged up the big hill and turned on to their street. I continued to jog unit I was in front of their house. I noticed a neighbor’s cat, it was orange, gray and white and it was extremely fat. I called the cat over and it came. I patted the cat, its fur was very soft and it purred. I couldn’t get over how fat this cat was. I left the cat and walk to the side door of my parents’ house. I looked through the screen door and saw my mother. I walked right in and greeted her, and asked to use the bathroom. I headed for the bathroom and went in. I immediately noticed that the bathroom was much smaller then I remembered it being. I stood in front of the mirror and looked at myself. I looked exactly as I do in RL, except I wasn’t wearing my glasses. Yet, I could see my face clearly. My RC habit came into play at this point and I glanced at my left hand. I couldn’t focus on my fingers, and my ring finger was just a tiny stub. I picked up my glasses, which had appeared on the counter before me, and put them on. I tried looking at my hand again with the same results. I am Lucid. I walk out of the bathroom, down the hall and through the kitchen. I go out the side door into my parents’ side yard. My mother is standing out there. I walk past her and say, “I’m dreaming.” She responds, “No we’re not.” I turn back to her, shocked. DC’s rarely respond to me in lucid dreams. I say, “Trust me Mom, I’m dreaming. I will prove it.” I hop up onto a low stone wall and leap into the air. I fly up to about 30ft off of the ground and turn back to look down on her and smile. She is looking up at me in awe. She says, “That is amazing. You should patent this.” I fly back down and land next to her. I wonder if my mom and I are sharing a dream. I say, “Let’s go flying mom.” I put my left arm around her waist and lift her up, she weights almost nothing. I leap into the air and soar upward. I am above the tallest trees when I begin to fly over the neighborhood. I say, “Mom, you might be dreaming. If you wake up and remember this dream, let me know.” She agreed. I flew her over the trees and houses of the neighborhood and then I landed. I said, “Is there anything else you want to see?” She said, “Can you fly me up to that other house so I can see inside?” She pointed to a large forest green colonial house to my right. “Sure.” I responded. But the dream faded away and I woke up.

LD #17 – “This street looks familiar.”
In my dream I somehow got stranded in the town where I used to live (from age 10-14). I don’t have my car so I decide to walk home (In RL that would be about a 60 mile walk.) I walk up a hill in a nice neighborhood and end up on a street. I stop and look around and realize that this street looks very similar to the street where I currently live. I examine the houses and, although, they are the same size and style there are subtle differences. The windows were smaller & the homes were closer together. I turn to my friend Mike, who is suddenly next to me, and say, “Oh my God. This street looks almost exactly like my street.” I look down the road and see the Golf Course at the end of the street. I jog down to the Golf Course, with Mike following me, and walk about 10ft onto the grass. The ground is wet and muddy. I realize that this golf course doesn’t look like the one back home. Realizing that this situation was very strange I do an RC and look at my left hand. When I try to focus on my fingers they disappear. I am lucid. I turn to Mike and say, “Hey, I’m dreaming!” I jump into the air and levitate up to about 30ft off of the ground. I hover there, look down at Mike and say, “You can fly too…..this is a dream.” He just stares at me, unmoving. I decide to leave him and fly up higher, like superman. I soar up to the top of the hill where there is a large unpaved parking lot with several cars in it. I land there and think, What should I do now? The dream fades and I wake up.

LD #18 “Buffy in a Renaissance dress!?!” (brief LD)
As usually I am at the end of a long dream that involved me accidentally driving past the off ramp to my work and ending up at a college in upstate NY. The police were chasing me and I hid in a bathroom on campus. There was a large mirror in the bathroom and I stood before it. I noticed that my hair was very curly (like Larry from the three stooges) and I had a huge bald spot in the center and back of my head. I knew immediately that this was not reality. I looked at my left hand and counted my fingers………5 and they were clear as they are in RL. Yet, I knew at this point I was dreaming. I turned to a digital clock that was sitting on the back of the toilet behind me and looked at it. The numbers weren’t numbers, they were gibberish. I am Lucid. I walk over to the window. It is very large and only slides up. I slide up the screen and then the window, but they won’t stay up they keep sliding down. I thrust them up and throw my body up onto the window sill. The screen and window slide down onto my back, but I ignore them and less then gracefully shimmy out of the window. I land in a grassy front yard in a suburban neighborhood. I walk toward the street when I notice Buffy (a woman I used to work with) and, what I assume was, a young boy coming down the street. Buffy was a skinny woman with bright red hair and very pale skin. She is dressed in a forest green and gold renaissance style dress. The boy is dressed in a black robe with a hood pulled over his face. I assume it is Halloween. She waves to me and I jog out to the road. I call to her and tell her to come over to me. She smile and walks right up to me. I reach out and gently take both of her hands in mine and look at her. Suddenly, the urge for sex takes hold of me, the dream fades and I wake up.

LD #21 – “The shower wouldn’t work” (Brief LD)
I have been going through a bit of a dry spell with my LD’s. It has been a very stressful month and I haven’t really been focusing on doing RC’s regularly during the day.
I am in a bathroom which I don’t recognize in RL, but I am comfortable there in my dream. I am going to take a shower. I reach into the shower stall and turn the knobs, but no water comes out. I fiddle with the knobs some more, but the shower seems to be broken. This situation seems a bit strange and I glance at my hand out of habit. I count my fingers and I count 6. I count again to be sure, and again I come up with 6. I am lucid. I looked around and realized that I was in the basement of a house I use to live in when I was younger. I notice a door that leads to a short flight of stairs which lead up and out of the bulkhead. I walk to the stairs and notice that it is raining outside. I will the rain to stop, and it does. The sun begins to shine. I walk up the stair and out into the back yard of my old house. It is a beautiful summer day. I can smell the scent of fresh cut grass in the air. Everything is extremely vivid. I spend some time just looking around and marveling at the details that my mind has created. I decide to do some flying, but before I can even jump into the air I wake up.

5/30/06 – LD #26 – “I want a donut!”
Just before bed I was discussing with my wife my next LD goal. I have given up refined sugar in my diet, but today we were at a friend’s house and there was a big plate of chocolate chip cookies on the table. I really wanted to have one, but resisted. I told her, as we lay in bed, how I wanted to get lucid in a dream and eat piles of candy, cookies or whatever else I could get my hands on. We laughed about it and then went to sleep.
I had woken up and looked at the clock at 3:34 a.m. I dozed back off and found myself in my car with Mike (a guy I work with). I was driving. I took a left onto a steep, snow covered road and my car began to slip. I knew we would never make it to the top. Suddenly I remembered that I had just been awake and that I was dreaming. I didn’t bother doing an RC, I knew I was dreaming. I turn to Mike and say, “Watch this.” I hold my hands out to my sides (like I’m performing a magic trick) and will the snow to evaporate. All the snow melts away and turns to steam within 3 seconds. I smile. I remember my goal to eat some sweat junk food. I take hold of the steering wheel and continue to drive up the hill. I see a building on my left and will it be a bakery. I pull into the parking lot and park the car. I jump out and walk into the bakery, only to find that it is abandoned. The display cases are all empty, there are old pans and junk scattered all around. I am disappointed. Mike has entered the building. I say to him, “Come with me.” He responds, “I don’t think this is going to work.” I walk out of the bakery, so that my back is to the building, and will it to become a Dunkin Donuts. I turn around and the sigh on the front is a pink and orange Dunkin Donuts sign. I walk back in, and the lights are on……..but it is still abandoned. I think to myself, ‘This is my dream and I want some donuts.’ I begin searching around and find a pan that has a single munchkin (donut hole) on it. It is a honey glazed with a maraschino cherry on top. I grab it and pop it into my mouth. The only thing I can taste is the maraschino cherry (not my favorite thing). Again, I am disappointed. Then I hear Mike’s voice, “Hey! I found the donuts!” I begin to run to where he is, but the dream fades and I wake up.

LD #29 – Where’s my wife?
In my dream I was in a high-rise hotel in some large city. I desperately needed to use the bathroom. I entered a huge bathroom with a white marble tiled floor; the only other feature was a toilet. The entire wall next to the toilet was made of huge plate glass windows. From those windows I could see another building right next to this one. I “took a seat” and a bunch of people appeared in the windows of the building next to mine. They were all looking at me, pointing and laughing. I was very embarrassed. I dove for a curtain string which had suddenly appeared, and drew the large dark blue curtains closed blocking the windows. Suddenly the strangeness of this situation dawns on me. I look at my left hand and count 8 fingers, yet I doubt the RC because the dream is so vivid. I count again and I have 8 fingers. I am lucid. On impulse I decide to try and walk through the nearest wall. I walk up to it and press my body against it……..it feels cool against my face, but I don’t pass through it. My mind shifts gears and I have a better idea……I will try to find my wife. I walk out of the door and I am at the top of a set of stairs. There is a marble brass banister and I jump on it and slide down. I am in the lobby of the hotel. It is huge, with a stained glass sky light, rose marble tiled floor, a dark cherry wood front desk with brass fixtures, and brass elevator doors. There are many people around, but the one that caught my attention was a blonde woman wearing a bright yellow dress. I run to her, put my hand on her shoulder and turn her to face me. She looks very scared. I say, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you. I just need to know where my wife is.” She points to my right and replies, “She is in the conference room, that way.” I turn to look in that direction and I see some kind of show going on in the middle of the lobby. There is a crowd of people standing around watching several people dancing. I ask, “What are they doing?” The woman replies, “They are practicing for the Nutcracker.” I move away from the woman in yellow and head in the direction she pointed. The crowd and dancers are blocking my way so I decide to dance my way through the crowd. I push my way past the on-lookers and into the area where the dancers are. I begin to jump, twirl and levitate in a dance that is silly and yet inhumanly amazing (in my opinion). At one point I leap over two of the dancers and hover in the air long enough to spin completely around. I land and start jogging down a long hall searching for the conference room, but I can’t find a door. The dream fades and I wake up.

LD #30 – Lucid in the Liquor Store. (Brief)
In my dream I am in a liquor store searching for some tequila, but I can’t seem to read the labels on any of the bottles…..the words are gibberish. I am getting frustrated, but then I realize that I am dreaming. I don’t bother doing an RC. I know exactly what I want to do in this dream……..eat candy!! I look around for a moment at the thousands of bottles around me and revel in the crystal clear reality of the dream. Then I decide the best place to get the candy is at the front counter. I start in that direction but can feel the dream beginning to fade. I stop and look around. There are packs of gum on a display near me. I focus all of my attention on a brilliantly realistic pack of “Big Red” gum on that display. I concentrate on every detail of the pack of gum and the dream stabilizes. I start moving slowly toward the front counter again, but the dream starts to fade again too quickly for me to take any further action and I wake up.
