LD# 32 – “Cooler full of Ice Cream!!”
In my dream I was in the backyard of my childhood friends, and it looked just as it did back in the 70’s. There was a cooler sitting on the ground and I opened it. It was full of ice cream cones wrapped in wax paper. I took one out, unwrapped it, and called my friend Dave over. He took the cone and walked away. I took out another and called my wife over. She thanked me and took it. I turned back to the cooler wishing that there was some ice cream filled chocolate chip cookies inside……..to my surprise the ice cream cones were replaced with the ice cream filled cookies. I took one out, unwrapped it and took a big bite. It was delicious. Suddenly it dawned on me that the cookies weren’t in the cooler moments before. I further realized that I had been awake a moment before. I am now lucid without doing an RC. I looked around me at what my mind had created. It was so real, and it was like I had traveled back in time to when I was a child. I looked at the grass at my feet……..it was lush and green with a bit of pale brown strands of dead grass. The color was so vivid and the detail was perfect. I looked to my friend’s house. I could see the details of the white aluminum siding, the small cracks in the cement of the foundation & the reflection of light off of the windows. Again, I was in awe of how much detail there was, how incredibly realistic the dream world appears. I tried to think of what I wanted to do in this dream. I decided that I was going to pick a fight with a DC. I headed toward the front yard, hoping to find some people. I went around the side of the house when I noticed my cat sitting on the neighbor’s stone wall. Just for kicks I willed my friend’s dog to appear. Instantly I felt a cold wet nose on my hand. I looked to my right and there was Murdock looking up at me with his big brown eyes, his tail wagging. I patted him. I could feel is course fur & the warmth of his body. I stopped petting him and he ran off toward the street. Then I made the mistake of worrying that I might wake up……….and that’s exactly what happened.

LD #33 – “I don’t live here anymore!”
In my dream I am in the upstairs bathroom of a house I used to live in (from ages 10 to 14). Suddenly, I realize that I don’t live here anymore. I walk out of the bathroom into the upstairs hall. I look at my left hand and I have 9 fingers. I am lucid. I decide to explore my old house. I walk down the stairs and take a right at the bottom. I look into the living room. It doesn’t look like I remember it. The furniture is different, and it is smaller than I remember. I continue on and walk into the kitchen. Again, it isn’t as I remember it. The counters are in different positions and the room is much smaller. I walk across the kitchen and look into the den. This room looks more like I remember it, but the door leading to the garage is missing. My mother is sitting in the room knitting. She takes no notice of me, and I don’t bother to talk to her. I turn around and head for the door that leads to the basement. I open the door and start down the stairs. About 3/4 of the way down I hear someone behind me. I take the last 4 steps to the basement and turn around. There on the stairs is a child of about 6 or 7……..it is me as a child. I am a bit freaked out at this point. I grab hold of his/my shirt and pull his face closer to me. I examine him/me closely and I look just as I did in pictures I have from my childhood. The dream fades before I have a chance to speak to him/me. I wake up.

December 2006 – LD #34 – “Sitting on parent’s deck”
I was at my parent’s house, standing on their deck, and it was a beautiful summer day. Suddenly, I realize that they removed the deck and had a garage built 3 years ago. I look at my left hand and count 8 fingers. I am lucid. I decide to simply look around. I examine everything around me: trees, grass, a stone wall, the tree covered hills in the distance, the sky, the clap-boards on the side of the house, the pavement of the driveway. I am astounded (as always) by the amazing detail my mind has created. I wake up.

December 2006 – LD #35 – “Back in Reading/run instead of fly”
I find myself walking down a street in a town I lived in from 10-14 years old. I am walking to my old grade school. Suddenly I realize that I haven’t lived in this town for 23 years and I can’t remember how I got here. I look at my left hand and count 6 fingers. I am lucid. I continue to walk up a hill until I reach the top. I can see my old school down the hill on the right side of the street. The detail is amazing. I jump in the air and begin to fly slowly upward. I do a single loop-de-loop and land. I decide that I don’t want to fly in this dream. Instead I want to see how fast I can run. I begin to sprint down the hill. I pass the school in less than a second. It is just a blur in my peripheral vision. In front of me (about ¼ mile away) is a swamp (which is not there in RL). I speed up my pace and run across the water as if it were solid ground. I can feel the cool water seeping into my shoes. I stop on the other side of the swamp and see a convenience store across a field. I jog over to it and go inside. There are people milling around and shopping. Suddenly the urge for sex takes over. I begin searching for an attractive woman but the only woman in the store is an elderly woman in a light blue dress. She is standing in front of some shelves filled with bread, with her back to me. I walk up beside her and lift up her dress. I begin to ‘will’ her (morph her) into a younger more attractive woman, but I wake up.

December 2006 – LD #36 – “First LD fight”
I am in my old high school gym. I am part of a class that is going to play dodge ball. My team is wearing black t-shirts and black shorts. I walk across the gym toward the door that leads to the rest of the school. The gym teacher, a man in his fifties with graying hair, who I don’t recognize, stops me. He begins yelling at me to get back with my group. I am extremely angry, but I do as he asks. I walk back to my group who are sitting on a bench. I try to find a spot to sit, but every time I walk toward an open spot on the bench it is suddenly filled with someone (like magic). I am growing more angry and frustrated with each passing moment…….Suddenly, I realize that this entire situation isn’t right. I look at my hand and count 8 fingers. I am lucid and really pissed off at that gym teacher. I storm across the gym toward that man. He turns and charges me. I know I’m dreaming and invincible. With the speed & strength of superman I punch the man in the face. He flies backward at least 20 feet before hitting the floor and sliding another 30 feet to the wall. I don’t bother checking on him I continue walking toward the door that leads into the school. I go through the doors and am confronted by 2 teenage boys. The try to attack me, but I am superman. I grab each of them by the neck, one in my left hand, the other in my right. I lift them off the floor and slam them together. They fall to the floor at my feet like 2 rag dolls. I continue down the hall and find a classroom. I walk right in. There are many teenagers in the room. One of the boys is holding a large knife. I walk right up to him, look him right in this brown eyes and say, “What are you gonna do with that?” He looks frightened, and shrugs at me. I pull open my black trench coat (which I didn’t realize I was wearing until right then) and yell, “Come on! Stab me!” He looks at me confused. At this point a tiny bit of doubt enters my mind. What if I’m not dreaming? This could kill me. I push my doubt away and demand, “STAB ME!!” The kid jabs the knife into my gut. The blade slides into my flesh up to the hilt. But I feel no pain. When he pulls it out, there is no blood or wound. I laugh out loud. I walk out of the room and hear a song playing over the loud speakers. It is Sarah Smile by Hall & Oats (weird). I begin singing along with it as a walk. My voice sounds amazing. I am impressed with myself. I walk by a door to my left and Maggie (a woman I work with) is in there sitting on the teacher’s desk. She says, “Wow! You have a very nice voice.” I laugh again at the comedy of my dream world. I decide to fly down the hall, but wake up.

January 2007 – LD #37 - I’m Spiderman, kinda
I am driving up a hill toward the house where I use to live with my ex-wife (she still lives there). When I see the house it is no longer a house, it is a three-decker apartment. I am shocked. Then I realize that something doesn’t seem right about this situation. I pull to the side of the road in front of the house, but the car in park and look at my left hand. I count 7 fingers. I am lucid. I get out of the car and walk up to the front of the house. There are balconies on each floor. I decide to go up to the 3rd floor and see what the house looks like from the inside. But I decide not to fly…..I want to try something different. I try shooting webs out of my wrists like Spiderman. On the first try web sprayed out all over the place (like opening a can of soda that had been shaken). I focus and try again. It works better this time and steams of web shoot upward, but it doesn’t stick to the balcony. I worry that I may wake up at any time and forget about the webs. I jump into the air, fly up to the 3rd floor and land on the balcony. I walk into the apartment through the open sliding glass door. The room is dimly lit but I can make out a couch and a TV. Suddenly I can feel myself waking up….the dream is beginning to fade. I grab onto the door jam and focus on the feel of the cool wood on my hand and I focus my eyes on the wood grain. I try desperately to stay in the dream, but it fades and I wake up.

LD # 38 – Kissing Gwen???
In my dream I am down in my basement getting ready to workout. There is a mirror in the basement and bright sunlight is coming in through the cellar window. I walk over to the mirror and begin to examine my completion for blemishes. I find I have a small pimple on my chin and squeeze it. A fistful of grey thick clay-like goo comes out of my face. I am shocked and disgusted…..suddenly I realize the situation isn’t right. I look at my left hand and count 6 fingers. Doubting the results, I count again and I have 8 fingers. I am lucid. I look around my basement and, as always, I am completely amazed by the clarity of the dream world. I can see the texture of the carpet, the light reflected off the surface of the vinyl cushion of the workout bench, and the chipped paint on the door that leads to the bulkhead. I walk to the door and pull it open with ease (in RL it always sticks). I walk up the 5 cement steps and push up on the bulkhead, it opens with ease and I walk outside. It is an amazingly perfect summer day. The sun is shining brightly, the dark green leaves are on all the shrubs and trees, and the grass is plush. I take a deep breath and can smell fresh cut grass on the air. My cat runs out of the open bulkhead, jumps into the air and flies away. I laugh out loud as I watch him fly with his little paws out in front of him like super cat. I begin to sing a silly song about the beauty of lucid dreams (I can’t remember the words, but I know they didn’t make senses). My voice is absolutely amazing…..I think, ‘If I could sing like this in real life I would win American Idol easily.’ Then I notice the house behind mine. I look up to the up-stairs window and see my neighbor, Gwen, sitting on the windowsill wearing an emerald green dress. I jump over the 6 foot tall white stockade fence that separates the yard (the fence isn’t there in RL) and land in her yard. Still singing beautifully, I walk over to a picnic table and jump up onto it. She notices me and moves away from the window. A moment later she comes out of the back door and says hello. I jump into the air and fly over to her (showing off). She doesn’t seem to be impressed. Suddenly the urge for sex is right there, threatening to take over. I fight it, but I still want to see her naked. I tell her to go back into the house and change so I can take her flying. She turns back to the door, tries the handle and says “I’ve locked myself out.” I hold out my hand to the lock and will it open. The lock clicks open. Then I move my hands upward and will all the windows to open, and they all slide open. Now she looks impressed and I say with a smile, “I’m a master of magic.” She smiles at me seductively. She opens the door, but before she can go inside I walk up to her, wrap one hand around her waist and my other hand gently moves to the back of her head……I pull her tight to me and kiss her deeply. As I have discovered in past LD’s, a kiss can be as good as sex in a lucid dream……I am on the verge of orgasmic pleasure from this kiss……….I wake up.

12/25/10 - LD # 39 “Moldy shower”

I’m dreaming that I’m taking a shower and I notice the drain is stopped up. I am standing knee deep in water. I bend down, stick my hand into the warm water and remove the metal stopper from the drain. However the water does not drain. I stick my fingers into the drain and pull out the head of one of my razors. (in real life, I had dropped a razor head and it went down the drain. I was worried that it would stop up the drain.) The water still isn’t draining and I am frustrated. I glance up and notice a thick disgusting mold growing on the shower wall right in front of my face. Something strikes me as not right, and without a RC I realize I am dreaming. I am lucid. I stand up and pull back the shower curtain. I look at myself in the foggy mirror and notice my reflection has his eyes closed. I just chuckle. I get out of the shower, naked and dripping with water, and head for the door. I want to fly. I hesitate to walk out of the bathroom because I am naked and people my see me. I smile at my hesitation and open the door. I jog down the hall to the kitchen, heading to the door so I can get outside, but I can feel the dream beginning to fade. I don’t think to spin because I am so out of practice. Just as I reach the door and grasp the cool metal handle, I wake up.

2/10/2011 – LD #41 – Money triggers lucidity

Finally, a good LD; and it was pretty long. I remember dreaming about being back in my parent’s house. I was in my room, which was much larger than it was in reality, and my mother was there helping me to move furniture. I then left the room and went outside. The outside of the house was actually a cabin in the woods (it looked nothing like my parent’s house). I took my car and drove down a hill and parked just off the road. I walked through a small area of woods and exited into a large open field. There were people there, including my wife. We were going to play softball. Then my wife told me that I had parked in someone’s yard and I would have to move my car. I looked to my left and there was my car parked on the grass right next to a house. I felt bad, ran back to my car to move it…except it wasn’t my car anymore…it was a small plastic van (about 3 feet long) which looked just like the van from the A-Team. There was a seat and steering wheel on the roof of the van and peddles on the sides. I straddled the van and began peddling. It moved along at a good pace and I peddled it out onto a road. I went right past the field and waved to the people. I was having fun peddling around on the toy A-Team van. I peddled up a steep hill; I could actually feel my legs struggling to peddle up the hill. I went over the crest of the hill and the pavement ended. The road became a rough dirt road and there were old train tracks running down the middle. I stopped my van when I noticed some money laying on the tracks. I ran over and picked up a few one dollar bills. Then I looked further down the tracks and there was more money. I was very excited and jogged over and picked up a large bunch of bills, some ones and some tens. I looked further down and there was more. As I moved toward the money a kid (about 7-8 years old) ran over and grabbed a bill. It was a two dollar bill. I saw another two dollar bill in the dirt and picked it up. Another kid ran up to me and I gave it to him. I didn’t want him to feel left out because his friend had found one. Suddenly, I realized how strange this was that I was finding money all over the place. I looked at my left hand, and didn’t even need to count my fingers because they looked as squiggly and weird. I’m lucid. I remind myself to stay calm and not to think of myself back in bed. I jog back to the van and straddle it. I decide I want to ride it down some steep hills. I peddle up a small hill to my right. As I reach the top I will the other side to be a very long steep drop, like a roller coaster. When I go over the crest there is a 100-200 foot, almost vertical, drop before me. I am very excited and peddle the van over the top. I zoom down the drop, smiling all the way. The woods on both sides of me are a blur and I can feel the sensation of me dropping at high speed in my stomach. I come to the bottom and will the van to roll up the next small hill, and will another large drop on the other side. I do this three times and I am having a blast. On the forth hill I leap off of the van with my arms out to the sides in a swan dive. I free fall hundreds of feet laughing with glee all the way. I land on my feet, into a low crouch (how I picture superman would land after zooming to the ground). I run forward and I’m on the golf course in my old neighborhood. I want to fly. I leap into the air and soar upward. I do a full loop-de-loop and then hover. Everything starts to get dark. I worry for a moment that I am about to wake up. I see a tiny dot of light above me and put all my focus on that. The dot of light gets brighter and then thousands of other dots appear before my eyes. They are stars and I am looking up into the night sky. I drift down until I touch the ground. I am still at the golf course, but now it is night. There are several DC s around me. There are four I don’t know, but I recognize two of them; my old friends John and Dave. I hug them both, smile at them, and then leap back into the air. My flight stops as one of the DC s has grabbed my legs. I land and look at him. He has brown hair and is wearing a brown leather jacket, white t-shirt, and blue jeans. I am extremely annoyed. He tells me that he won’t allow me to fly. I laugh and respond, “This is my dream and I can do whatever the hell I want.” I reach out with both hands and grab his neck. I squeeze and his flesh is like putty in my hands. I pull my right hand up, and push my left and down and pop his head right off his body. There is no blood; it is as if his body is made of clay. His body falls backward onto the grass and I toss his head down next to it. I comment to his head, which is still looking at me with animated eyes, “How do you feel about that?” He doesn’t answer. I notice a building, which was not there before. I jog over to it and go inside. It is a small dinner. There are booths, tables, and a counter. I decide I want to eat some sweets. I move over to the counter and lean over to see if there is anything behind it. I see the grill and cooking utensils, but no candy. I think to myself, “this is my dream and I want some candy.” I look to my left and there is a wire rack with gum, breath mints and a bunch of Dove chocolates. I grab a handful of the chocolates and place them on the counter in front of me. I sit on a stool and unwrap the foil packaging. I put the chocolate in my mouth and it tastes incredible. It is the best chocolate I’ve ever eaten. I let it melt in my mouth. I take the next piece of chocolate and instead of unwrapping it I simply pinch it between my finger and thumb and it pops out of the wrapper. I eat this one as well. Then I think, “This is my dream, why do I have to un-wrap these?” I wave my hand over the pile of chocolates and will the wrappers to be gone. I pickup and put the next one in my mouth. For a moment I can taste aluminum foil, but I will it to be gone. I eat 5-6 more pieces without any issues (no more wrappers). They are absolutely delicious. I glance out the window and there is a street lined with white brick buildings. There is also a cooler case (like the ones in a supermarket where they keep soda) in front of one of the buildings. It is empty except for a cat (which is white with brown spots). I consider leaving the building to check this out when the dream fades and I open my eyes. I do a RC and I am really awake and it is 4:15am.

LD #43 – Tandem Jets?

I am still not actively pursuing LDs but it is always a treat to have one and surprisingly I had 2 in 2 days. In my dream I am talking with my sister Sue and her husband Steve. We are outside and it is a clear sunny day. I am telling them that their son, Adam, was jumping out of a second story barn window. They looked shocked and I feel bad for tattling on Adam. I try to cover for him by saying he had piled up lots of soft stuff (hay, blankets, etc) so he would land without getting hurt. I glance up in the sky and see a strange jet plane. It has 6 wings and between each set it has a large circular structure (I have seen this before in spy jets). I my mind I know that these are new US military jets called “tandem jets”. Suddenly I realize that these jets don’t really exist. I know I’m dreaming without doing a RC. I am very excited that I am having a LD. I walk away from my sister and brother in law. I am on top of a huge hill overlooking my home town. I can see wooden stairs which have been built to climb the steep hill going down for hundreds of feet. I jump off the first step to fly. For a moment I have trouble and start to drop at a slow rate. Then I get control and shoot off into the air superman style. I do a huge loop-de-loop and then dart up into the clouds. It feels wonderful to fly!! I look down on the town from thousands of feet up and suddenly wake up.
