Sleep Paralysis would just not happen, any tips?

Postby Tom538 » 05 May 2016 20:38

Hi,

Last night I attempted WILD. I started at 23:30 in the evening and stopped at 01:20 (morning). I laid down on my back, arms and legs straight. after a few minuted i get very low vibrations. This happens every time I attempt WILD. After some time, vibrations get a little stronger. And even after that it got very strong, but didn't last longer than one minute.

I also felt the tip of my tongue vibrate a little. when I felt the strong vibrations I visualized a dream world. This was in first person, but not in front of my real eyes. Sleep paralysis hasn't happened yet. So i waited a little bit, just visualizing. All of a sudden I need to pee really badly and I was thinking: it's not gonna happen anyway. So I went to the toilet and just went to sleep.

Can anybody tell me how close I got to sleep paralysis and Lucid dreaming? Do you have any tips for me that I can use? Share your experience if you want!

Thanks for reading!
Tom

I find it extremely difficult to trigger SP. Seems like WANTING it to happen somehow prevents it (for me). When it used to happen there was the sense that it was happening TO me and I had no control over it. So I think you need to be in a susceptible state of mind.

dont aim for sleep paralyses as if you create a dream of that you could find yourself stuck in it, paralysed and not able to go and enjoy our lucid dream and do things, a paralysed state is also more likely to set one up to experiencing scary stuff as we all feel more vulnerable if paralysed. Just instead aim for a lucid dream. (many dont experience sleep paralyses).

I also suggest do not try for that long as it can develop into sleep problems and its not good to be like programming into yourself that this will be hard and take a long time which is what is happening when you are laying there for hours.

You should be doing WILD at a time when you can get to sleep. If you are still laying there 60-90mins later, allow yourself to just go to sleep. You may be trying too hard which to me looks to be the case if you actually are getting vibrations within minutes but still just laying there hours later.

After vibrations it shouldnt take long to go into a sleep/lucid state as the vibrations are signaling that you are in an relaxed enough state to either OBE or LD. So if you are laying there 20 mins after getting vibrations, you probably tried too hard, your mind is stopping you though your body is relaxed.

I also felt the tip of my tongue vibrate a little. when I felt the strong vibrations I visualized a dream world. This was in first person, but not in front of my real eyes. Sleep paralysis hasn't happened yet. So i waited a little bit, just visualizing

try instead of visualization which can overactive ones thinking and then stop one from sleeping, try instead to just keep relaxing and allow. Just allow a dream to form. Your subconsciousness is quite capable of producing a dream once you are in the right state

or if you are rather heading more towards out of body experiences, you could try of instead of trying to image yourself elsewhere, just stay focused on your body to see what it does, you may feel your astral body loosening. (if you get very strong vibrations, try doing a a summersault, this can throw out of of body).

you can try things like try to make your fingers grown and touch the wall etc or imagine a rope above your bed and use it to try to pull your body out. Your room can be easier to use as you know it so well and you dont then also have to imagine yourself being else where. keep your mind relaxed as possible so you can let go of your normal state.

and I strongly suggest, do not aim for SP as it just then often creates another issue of being stuck or scary things which have put many beginners off.

I don't know how to do a cartwheel!

You are right about my trying too hard - but I don't know how to try halfway. Any attempt is too much of an attempt, and the only way to find sleep again is to forget what I have been trying to accomplish. It is like I am allergic to SP/LD attempts, and the symptom is insomnia.

You also keep suggesting to go for an LD rather than SP. First of all, I am way more familiar with SP, but as far as I'm concerned they are basically the same thing (you are in REM sleep, physically paralyzed, and aware). The difference is one's disposition to it: do you control it or does it control you? Did you initiate it or did it unexpectedly surprise and envelop you? Are you in control or unable to control it? Does the experience terrorize you or overjoy you?

You make it sound like selecting a candy bar from a vending machine: "go fro the Snickers instead of the Three Musketeers." Only, never having voluntarily accessed either of these options, I don't know WHAT to do to get to either of them. It seems they both share aspects - feeling heavy or a buzzing sound, and my experience of those is with SP, not LD. So basically I lay there with my mental antennae ready to pick up the first whiff of strangeness that comes my way, whatever it is. But no luck....

A rewarding technique: I know this may be very uncommon among WILDers, but my blocking point to enter Sleep paralysis was I always was getting the sensation of swallowing the saliva and when I tried to swallow it, my body would just be awake and I had to start all over again. So a better technique would be, to add another pillow under the head while relaxation so that your throat section is more vertically inclined and saliva would flow in by Gravity

Happy Dreaming
