I have issues with insomnia when I am trying to pursue lucid dreaming. I understand your frustration.
I'm not sure if you are referring to not being able to fall asleep when you go to bed, or not being able to go back to sleep when you wake up during the night.
At bed time, my recommendation would be to read to get your mind off of lucid dreaming so you can fall asleep.
After waking at night, you may want to ignore anything about lucid dreaming on only try to remember and record your final dream of the night.

It might be better to avoid trying to have lucid dreams during the first 6 hours, or so, of sleep. Then, if you wake up briefly for any reason during the remaining hour or two of sleep, you can recall your intention to have a lucid dream.
