Increasing Control

Postby LucidToSuccess » 17 Nov 2017 09:05

In the rare occasions I have lucid dreams I am often lacking control. I specifically want to ask my subconscious why I can't visualize in waking life and/or practice those skills during the dream. For those who have not read my intro I am on medication for physciatric disorders. Could this have anything to do with it? Can anyone shed light on how to have fully controllable or atleast to a large degree where I can press and get information from my subconscious?

To increase my chances of having a lucid dream I am going to do the following

1) Wear a digital watch EVERDAY and perform a reality check 12 times a day by seeing if I can read the time on the watch and press the light button on the watch.
2) Voice record my dreams every morning and scribe them legiliby before bed time.
3) Regular meditation.

Please help me if you are able to. This is extremely important for me

" each in their own time and own way", "I can appreciate effort".
Your "subconscious" knows best bro.

I am sorry but I really don't understand what you mean by the first two quotes.
I am doing a few things to get better at Lucid Dreaming.
I have a analog watch that I now check every one hour to see if the text on it has changed.
I am hoping to condition this into my mind very quickly.

I normally look for pain. So make it a habit to pinch yourself all the time, or bite your tongue a bit. In a dream it won’t hurt at all, but you will feel pressure. I would do the pinching thing at first, but nowadays I’ve been doing it for so long I just control the dream instinctively.

But the real trick to gaining more control are two things.
#1 Belief!
The more you believe something will happen it will. Like flying. You have to be absolutely sure you are going to fly when you try to. Don’t look for a new experience because your mind can only draw off of its own experience. Flying will feel like you expect it to feel like. But if you don’t believe you will succeed, you won’t. A quote I like for this is “if you think you won’t succeed you’re right.” Basically doubt it the major enemy of control in dreams. Rarely am I ever surprised in a dream. That’s not to say nothing is new, but basically if I honestly think something is going to happen, or not happen, I’m right...most of the time. Subconscious is a bitch.

I’ve been lucid dreaming for roughly 23 years, since I was 11 or 12.
I can fly, breath underwater, create or destroy out of thin air (this one is STILL hard for me), make people appear from around the corner (also still hard), walk through walls, grow, shrink, modify my body in just about any way, move things with my mind telekineticly (I’m SUPER good at this one), generate almost anything (like fire, electricity, acid, water, flying dicks, just whatever I can think of). One of the hardest things for me, and this one is silly. I can’t run worth a damn most times I dream. I try to run but I move slowly, I have to literally (lol, dream literally) pull myself along the ground with my hands and feet as fast as I can. I’m working on it though! I was running like the flash in one dream a few months ago! But that’s an exception...

Anyhow more than willing to answer any questions or help you try to gain more control in your dreamworlds!

I don't know if medications could impact lucid dreaming, but I think they generally blunt certain mental processes that might be important. Maybe it is shutting off important parts of your brain. They use the medications to shut peoples brains down and make them "function" a certain way, but maybe they aren't meant to "function" that way. Of course the people who put you on them are the ones you are told to talk to in order to get off them, and they get paid to keep you on them.

This is a GREAT resource about what I think is the truth about "psychiatry".

And it has a lot to do with consciousness, and of course consciousness goes with lucid dreaming.

Other than that, it sounds like you are doing all the practices that beginners are told to do. So, just hang in there, and it will start to click. Reading other peoples lucid dream journals can be a big help because it can give you a feel for the experience.
Here is a link to my dream journal if you want to know what I am up to in the dream world! :)
