Hypnagogia interrupting self hypnosis

Postby RosenVitae » 26 Sep 2012 21:41

As part of hypnotherapy, I've been instructed to use self hypnosis to clean up the unconscious thoughts I hoard throughout the day. Recently, hypnagogia has begun appearing after about 10+ minutes, which pulls me out of my regular state of trance. Although pleasant, it keeps interrupting my mental cleanup.

I don't know what to make of the situation. On one hand, it keeps me from participating in my therapy (to the length I had planned at the given moment). On the other hand, hypnagogia could be useful in some other ways, but I don't know what to really do with it.

Please share any suggestions or experiences that comes to mind.

Thanks :)

It's good you're seeing hypnagogia while doing self hypnosis... But if I were you, honestly, I would forget about the whole self-hypnosis and kind of let the hypnagogia take over, also keeping your mind concious. It will put you into a lucid dream more quickly :D . I have trouble falling asleep after self hypnosis, and usually just 'wake up' after it.
Are you dreaming?

Using breathing techniques can help to maintain tranquility and prevent you from falling asleep

To get rid of hypnagogia, I simply look at the patterns with great detail without letting my mind go in them (obviously with my eyes closed). It somehow intensifies and just leaves, leaving my scenery kind of blue and eventually turning black again.
