hey i only just started reading up about lucid dreaming and meditation. i just wanted to know to be able to lucid dream do you practice meditation first?

im not going to start it now, but i will. and im pretty excited about it. i also wanted to know if lucid dreaming & meditation is a way of prediction, i have had alot of dreams in the past that i still remember today and i know they have told me things. its hard to explain. can you lucid dream without even knowing your doing it? a few weeks ago i had a dream but it felt like i was somewhat in control of what was happening.

hmm i dont know what else to say. but if anyone can help and give me advice that would be great! : ) thanks for reading.

Hi Laurennn,

I found that increasing self-awareness in general has helped me to have lucid dreams, and meditation is part of that for me. I've only had 2 good lucid dreams so far, but working on raising your consciousness should help get you there along the standard practices such as reality checks.

One mistake I made, was believing that I could tell the difference between a dream and waking reality. My lucid dreams were so real, they were not distiguishable from waking life. When I do reality checks now, I know that at any time I could be dreaming and I am still working on believing this.

As far as predicting goes, I don't believe we were meant to do that. I actually think it would be counterproductive in most cases to our development in this life on earth. I think it does happen in rare cases, but for me, raising your consciuosness is the best reason to pursue this course. Lucid dreams are absolutely incredible, they added a new dimension in my life. They are much more like waking life than a dream, like another planet. Good luck and keep trying!
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world? Morpheus
