Q. How durable is the InstaDreamer? Is it waterproof? Is it scratch/stain resistant? I'd prefer not to take it off, so that is a high priority for me.
A. Great durability because it's from high quality material. Waterproof is possible if we raise enough money. Scratch/stain resistant to a certain point of course, you'll still need to be careful.
Q. How much control do you get over the alarms? (Wake up time, timeframes where it won't do the alarm, specific alarms on specific days, etc.)
A. Vibration intensity, timeframe before the given hour (max 45 minutes), specific days, yes.
Q. It says 14 of 19 had a dream in the first 3-4 days. How frequently do they occur after?
A. Since we had only one prototype, we stopped after the first LD. The idea was to test how long does it take to experience one and not how often they do. If you do it in under 3-4 nights, you can imagine doing it really frequently after that.
Q. How much versatility do you get for when and how many times it vibrates? I'd like to see a feature where you could increase the frequency at certain times of day, or based on motion like continued running. (That could be interesting... conditioning reality checks when running so that you would do it in a scary dream.)
A. We'll definitely consider that kind of things depending on how much money we raise. The more we raise, the more options we'll have.
Q. How do you get the sleep data back? I recall the information present about it connecting to your home WiFi to send it, but to where? An app? If there is one, would it also sync with a smart watch? I think compatibility with Apple's health app could be nice.
A. It's updated to your account on a server actually; from which you download the data on your app on any device. So you log in the InstaDreamer app and get your data. Phone and band never directly communicate.
Q. How much do you think it would improve a technique like All Day Awareness?
A. I don't really consider All Day Awareness like a technique. For me it's more like a mindset. So I think both will work well together.
Q. Does it come with instructions on good lucid dreaming practices like mindfulness, meditation, and dream journals? If not, it should, so that new lucid dreamers get started right.
A. You're absolutely right, and it absolutely does. :)
Q. This last one isn't a question, but a proposal for the developers. I think that there should be a setting that lets you start/stop tracking data specifically for research or statistics, so that you can do your own lucid dreaming research using the device. As an example, person A wants to see if they get better sleep with binaural beats. They turn on the tracking and after two weeks has a nicely formatted set of statistics over their sleep that they can compare to their normal sleep data. Having a wide range of sleep data on hand from wearing this InstaDreamer could benefit many sleep researchers and oneironauts worldwide.
A. We'll definitely make it possible if we have enough budget. :) Thanks!
